Cemetery Survey
Survey Notes
A lot of evidence of sinking and heaving at this plot, also some previous repairs
Cemetery is largely abandoned and without care. Numerous trees growing within. Formerly surrounded by wood post fence with commonly season cemetery woven wire is mostly down and rotting away. Cemetery sits near site of old trailer and is about 75 feet from edge of lake. Floor has periwinkle that has been common in these area cemeteries. Several possible depressions and tomb rock burials to be found here. Landowner described land as having been McClain and Hannabass land. Rodessa McClain’s grandmother (Sarah Jane Hannabass McClain McGuire) was sister to Samuel Hannabass who is buried here. Perhaps interment to the left of Rodessa could be McHenry McClain who died of Typhoid in 1862 while in CSA. Interesting to note that Samuel in spite of serious gunshot wounds suffered in CSA did not have a CSA marker and instead had a more recently placed die in base shared with spouse.
