Joseph Dickinson Family Cemetery
Location & Access
Cemetery is off in a yard and is marginally maintained, but is clean.
Old Dickinson Cemetery, Dickinson-Goggin-Robertson-Moulton Family Cemetery ***It is most appropriate in continuing with similar Family Cemetery naming conventions to describe this as the Joseph Dickinson family cemetery. All other internment find themselves here via marriages or via a Dickinson line. The apparent exception being the Moulton family who is buried some 30 feet away and we have created a separate cemetery (#81B) to denote the physical and apparent genealogical separation.
Cemetery Survey
Survey Notes
Damaged markers by and larger have been well repaired as photos demonstrate. In surveying this cemetery a past photo showed damage to a stone in which we had to really search for the fault line to confirm it was in fact the same marble marker.
Cemetery likely saw significant and skilled repairs at some point in last 25 years. Stones were reset, broken markers repaired quite neatly and there is evidence of great overgrowth having been present. There are likely many more interred here in this very old cemetery than are marked. Many markers in this family cemetery were made by Gaddess Bros in Lynchburg and are of high quality.
